I actually converted an old Bronco to run on propane. It ran like a son of a bitch on the stuff (110 octane rating). Plus it's a much cleaner fuel than gasoline. It also is cheaper than gas when a big price spike occurs. Propane price jumps tend to lag behind gasoline. Propane also doesn't go "bad" if left in the tank.

I think a car fire in a propaner is much more efficient than in a gas fed, and way much more than in a diesel. But, I've never tried any of them.
