The ability is there, or obtainable. The will is the problem, ranging across the nervous nellies in Congress and the democrats with bylines in the press, plus the ruling class' desire to have a lawyer in every firefight (bad ROI).
Review the speech in "Patton." The US People never really lost the will to win (in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iraq again), it was our un-American and anti-American "betters" that led to defeat.
