The Fact Folks vs "Feelings, nothing more than feelings...."

And now the US military is trying to figure out how to deal with the newly-adult who join and who seem to think that no one has the right to tell them what to do.

Across the services, leaders certainly are scrambling to adapt to the millennial mindset, even as the generation is taking over.

The Army is looking to expand the role of drill sergeants and insert them back into Advanced Individual Training. This means new soldiers will have more time with tough-talking soldiers, beyond basic. Why?

“The problem that we do have is that right now the generation we have coming in is not as disciplined as we would like them to be," said Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Gragg, the senior enlisted soldier for the Center for Initial Military Training, earlier this year. "So we have to provide them with discipline over a longer period of time.”

This emphasis on emotions and deliberate rejection of cortex control action, is a move to deliberate schizophrenic thought and behavior.

okay - got it. Just kidding, I do that too sometimes!

Really interesting note Gerard. Having reared five of my own (first child born in 1986, last one in 2000), I can definitely see the progression of "feeling" demanding an upper hand. I have actually seen a 16 year old burst in to tears over what I considered a very mild verbal rebuke. "Stop bullying me" seems to be the catch phrase of that generation. Pretty bizarre shift!

My two are 12, girl and boy at 10. They are in Catholic school as I would work till the day I died to keep them out of public school. They both train Juijitsu and we make regular trips to the gun range to shoot .22s. They WILL NOT be turned into left wing pinko marxist commie trash. I see enough of that in the youth at work.

So where is Ghostsniper?

If the institution receives ANY money at all from the gov't your charges are under their (gov't) control, mentally and physically.

You will not see the brainwashing until it is too late to prevent it's devastating lifelong debilitation.

The only way to deal with gov't force is to find it then stay away from it.

Do not send your kids to a University. Not if you want them to remain sensible. If you take the trouble to homeschool or private school them and then send them to college, you have a 50/50 chance of losing them. I wouldn't take that gamble. If they want to be a doctor or engineer, find something unrelated to a state school. There are avenues for higher education that don't have to include leftists. However, you have to search for them.

A few years ago, I had to take quick corrective action on a younger but relatively experienced employee (born early '80s, I'd guess) who was really about to jump on it with golf shoes if I hadn't noticed he was screwing up. He was shocked that I spoke sharply to him, and I really thought he was going to burst into tears. I suppose it was the first time anyone had ever told him he was something other than wonderful and special, and he didn't know how to handle it. He learned quickly.

@Leslie, the hard sciences, engineering, and accounting are relatively unpolluted by leftists (climate "science" is one of the exceptions), as "feelings" are irrelevant to results. So if the kids choose one of these fields, even a state school should be reasonably safe.
