Comments: Ah, Communism! This time… it’ll work!

The horror stories are incredible. They lead the way with corruption, and make us look good by comparison. And we are a shit-ton of full on corruption.

So far. The bungholes in DC are not finished.

That map is interesting for it looks like Venezuela has overtaken North Korea in going Green and using sustainable energy.

Fifty years ago I was flying DC-6s back and forth all over that jungle. Outside of greater Caracas there wasn't nuthin' but rivers, trees and paths in Venezuela. Almost the same for Columbia, and for sure in northwestern Brazil except for Manaus, although I suspect by now Brasilia probably sheds light at night, and it may be that bright spot on the map. Does seem a little too far south to be Manaus.

The only reason communism hasn't been a great success is because the right people haven't been in charge. Chavez and Maduro obviously aren't the right people.

Communism is a sand castle built on the sand foundation that people can be educated out of natural human impulses without offering any saving grace.
People will be people and will fall down as is their human nature to do.

BillH, that dot in the middle of the Amazonian darkness almost due south of the annotated Venezuela dot is Manaus, with Brasilia the first bright point of light to the southeast. Brasilia in turn is almost due north of the brightest area of light on the coast, which is Sao Paolo, with Rio off to the east.

That could be the fate of the paradise of Puerto Rico which lost all electrical power due to a fire and doesn't have the money to upgrade the government owned power company.
