Comments: It's Probably Nothing:

And while I'm in the mood. I'm sick to the fucking eyeballs of hearing about American lives being thrown away on this worthless goddamn region. Fuck Iraq. Fuck Iran. Fuck Syria. And especially the Saudis. Nuke the bastards and have done with them. Let them scrabble for rats in the radioactive rubble.

I think in a long, protracted event such as the Cold War, a few adviser-insurgent arrangements can offer some temporary economy of force measures. This has none of that nuance or intent. This is the half-assed measure of a stupid president. When you fail to send US infantry, you decide to fail. All you can do is hope for an improvement in your situation, and hope is not a plan of action.

In WW II, even grade school boys knew statecraft and global strategy. Obama? A gnat on their rear ends would know more.

Syria? The ambulant population has di-di'd. Whoever is there now is some stripe of combatant, or else the dirt poor and their kin. What will we accomplish by getting Obama's hopey hope hope goals? No Assad, and some state of affairs that will not represent a state at all. Just a gaggle of Mad Max Muslims. Hmm. Might make a cool post apocalypse game or movie.

I said this about Somalia. Where there is no viable government (Afghanistan is another such hell hole. Western Pakistan, same deal) we must become the rulers. If we don't, then we place ourselves at the hands of a tumorous malignancy. I'm not talking @ state building. I'm talking about owning. Having. Ruling.

You can't deny this. If we are not the people who will do this, then we must wall them off and make them impoverished. Then, we must make sure we never again elect a rear-leader.

The other day I went to a talk by the Jerusalem Bureau Chief of CBN, Christopher Mitchell. He played a video of a report he did on location outside Mosul with the Kurdish military, Peshmerga. It was interesting and informative. But Mr Mitchell's comments were cautionary. He told us that the population of Mosul has lived under the Islamic State for two years now and once the city is liberated we may find a great many of them have come to support ISIS and the Caliphate. And many of these radicalized residents will melt away and travel far and wide with destructive intent. So driving ISIS out may be a double edged sword.

Whatever troops we may send to these sorted hellholes will have great difficulty accomplishing anything meaningful there as long as they are walking around barefoot on all that rocky stubble, for Her Majesty the Ice Queen has declared that as long as she is in charge there will be no American boots on the ground.
