The West that existed before Democracy knew how to contain social and cultural wreckers. I doubt the post-Democracy West will have either the moxie or or cojones for this.

What follows the West will not be the West, not even a pale imitation. The West was never about mere geography. See Roger Scruton's outstanding treatise, The West and the Rest: Globalization and the Terrorist Threat.

Also a book of nearly the same name by Niall Ferguson.
