I just think it's swell that Van der Leun is making such nice new friends. Getting in touch with his volkish side for a while now, he has been. And I'm sure he's just overflowing with the milk of human kindness for them, and won't ever end up mocking and alienating them. Because, after all, the real problem was always in his friends' liberalism and related failings; it certainly had nothing to do with Gerard himself.
