Here is where I note that my father, Kenneth K. Klahn, fought the Germans on the front in Italy to save the world from Naziism. He was proud to be a member of the 10th Mountain Division, but he always under-told the story as was the practice of his generation.
Mr. Greenfield makes you aware that WW II is part of our collective memory. We must tell. Every chance: tell. When I post online on the subject, as I do on occasion, I feel compelled to tell the story of WW II in enough detail to inform young people. They may not be getting it the way we did when we were on our father's knee.
Those bitches I taught in Italy last year! Those witch-spawn of the devil libs who told me: "I don't want to hear any stories about WW II or your father." 3 events stand out in the history of Italy: the rise of the republic and the spread of Christianity, the Renaissance, and World War Two. It's undeniably part of Italy. Fuckers.

The current crop of youngsters across the world have had lives that would not be here but for guys like Casey's Dad. My Dad did his part across the world in the Pacific. Enormous conditions were endured. Enormous. We get to live today because of what they did then. History may be ignored,but it is everpresent,and always fascinating.
