Before Obamacare there wasn't a problem. Repeal it and let the system fix itself. My contention continues to be that there has never in the history of the world been anybody turned away from an emergency room in the United States.
I base that claim on my own experience of never having had insurance of any kind until well into my 40's, and much of the time since. THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO PLACE IN THE INSURANCE BUSINESS. PERIOD.

Can you name anything at all that is gov't related that is NOT astronomically priced? Hell, the very gov't itself is too expensive by $4tril a year at least.
What you're looking at here is an enormous multi-layered criminal charade that cannot be fixed.
The only cure for the medical industry in the US is for the gov't to get completely out of it, then, prosecute ALL of the criminals that have hijacked it over the last 30+ years.

50-60 years ago my parents raised 5 kids with all the usual childhood ailments, mumps, measles, broken arms, concussions, tonsils, rabies, braces, glasses, all of it, and paid for all of it out of pocket and with very little financial impact on the family budget. They NEVER had insurance on us kids, it simply was not necessary or cost effective.
And we had a real family doctor that we seen in his private office every time he was needed. On a few occasions he even came to the house when the kid was too ill or injured to be ambulatory.
What has changed from then to now?
The same thing that has changed in just about every aspect of your life.
The rotten assed gov't involved itself all the way into it and the costs and criminalities has exploded to the moon and back.
The costs ALWAYS skyrocket immediately and eternally and the quality dives deep into the gutter of doom.
If you wish for anything good or positive from this criminal gov't you wish in vain, and you know it.

If the gov't is involved you can count on failure, just look at it's history over the last 50 years.
Go try to buy car insurance AFTER you've wrecked your car.
