Laws and rules you say? I flew MATS (Military Air Transport Service) when it was called the DOD airline '50s/'60s. Lots of civilians and dependents. Many women and children. I lived in a society of laws and rules, serving in a military of strict laws and rules, flying airplanes controlled by a plethora of checklists, procedures, decision tables and such. Laws and rules within laws and rules within laws and rules - three deep. It was a comfortable existence. I always knew what to expect from society and what society expected of me. Left me free to deal with the unexpected from the airplane and nature.
