Comments: Customizing Grandma's Remote

I wish they came like that. Too lazy to do it myself.

Yeah, like that, but with bigger buttons. Me mum could use one.

I'd do something like that, except she keeps losing the damned thing. You'd be surprised---or maybe you wouldn't---how long it can take to find something that's been lost withing arm's reach. My elderly mother is the Bermuda Triangle of remote controls.

PBS channel 522 reminder. PBR is worthless as tits on a boar.

Maybe Grandma likes to track Antiques Roadshow.

Vanderleun, I stand corrected!

Can anyone explain why out TV volume goes from 0-80 and it has to be turned all the way up to 38 before any sound is heard?

What idiot came up with the idea to put the volume indicator on the screen itself, blocking out some of the programming every time you change the volume?

And what's up with all the inappropriate whispering?
In just about everything now there are people whispering to each other when there is no reason to do so, requiring the viewer to crank the volume, then suddenly the scene switches to an 8 car pile up that cracks the drywall and a made dash for the remote.

The programmers are going out of their way to force people AWAY from them. It's like they failed Business 101 but had lots of free money so they started their shitty business anyway - viewers be damned. They only care about the advertisers.
