The bear video was taken at McNeil River State Game Sanctuary. Every year at the peak of the salmon run there is a lottery for a small number of folks to spend a day watching the bears. Since they are so busy feeding on much better fare, humans are safe so long as they stay within a prescribed area. Away from their food.
If you go to Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park, you can also find LOTS of brown bears which you can get uncomfortably close to. There is no prescribed area there. The bears are wandering all over. Makes you feel real humble. Especially since none of those folks were armed.

I'm not surprised any more.
Went to a public zoo last week and was at first stunned by the number of adults encouraging their young charges to climb up on the guard rails surrounding the lion and tiger field so they could take cell videos and upload to who knows where and why.
I hadn't been to a zoo in 50 years, back when people were human beings and not self glorifying abominations. It's out of my system now, as well as music concerts, and the next time I view either will be from the comfort of my own couch.
There's a word for it and it eludes me right now, the reason why I can barely tolerate anyone.
