Then Again, Maybe Western Civilization Really Isn't Worth Saving After All

Even the crew of "Marica Quien? Marica Tu!" are better looking! This bunch won't get a second look until their NumaNuma video hits the web.

Who said Milan catwalks represent Western Civilization?

How long until someone blames Bush for a fashion disaster?

Vivienne is a genius, if she can make money on this stuff. She could probably sell warming pans to Bedouins.

For some reason it reminded me of Danny Kaye's song Anatole of Paris, which ends like this:

I'm Anatole of Paris I must design
I'm just like wine
I go to your head

Give me thread and the needle
I itch, I twitch to stitch
I'm a glutton for cutting
For putting with a button
To snip and pluck, nip and tuck
Fix and trim, plan the brim
Tote that barge, lift that bail

And why do I sew each new chapeau
With a style they most look positively grim in
Strictly between us, entre-nous
I hate women.

I wonder if my pegged jeans and long hair were
as repugnant to my father as this is to me? I
hope not, but suspect they were. I'll chalk that
up to generational rebellion. Gawd help us when
these have kids who want to 'be themselves'.

Vivienne has been trading on the fact that she was nearby when the punk look was invented in 1976 in Kings Road. She & her then hubby had a store called SEX, where Johnny Rotten & Sid Vicious hung out. Hubby Malcolm formed the Pistols, & taught them outrage.

Vivienne's made an entire career out of designing fabulous crap no one wears. You go, girl.
