Strong Horse Wins Race. World Stunned.

Well, that's a little more nuanced, but I don't think Hamas actually has the wherewithal for a "Full scale war" with Israel.

You maybe entirely correct that it will come down to a fight, but I think Hamas is already starting to think about hedging about the whole 'wipe Israel off the map' thing.

But things are never as bad (or good) as people think.

I agree that Hamas does not have the wherewithal for a full scale war, but Israel does.

All Things Beautiful TrackBack A Dark Victory

"The radical Islamist movement Hamas win the Palestinian elections. A Dark Victory for the rest of the world....At last a voice of reason from the great Gerard van der Leun: "Over the years, I've had (as we have all had) discussions without number concerning the "problem" of Israel. I'm almost always on the short end of this endless stick since my position is that, at the end of the bloody day, the only thing that will bring peace to the region is the sword."

Very well put. Why do so many people have such a hard time understanding this?

Then Israel loses. If it's a matter of the side that can be the must brutal wins, Israel definitely loses. I do not mean that Israel will not defend itself, but Israel wages war according to the rules of war. The Arabs do not. Israel is not willing wantonly to kill women and children; the Arabs have proven that they will. Because jihad is the duty of every Muslim, every Arab Muslim will try to kill Jews. We who belong to a Judaeo-Christian tradition first have to lose many lives before we descend to that level of barbarity; even then, we cringe at it. If Israel is to win, then they must adopt a genocide frame of mind. I can't see that happening.
