Hmmmmmm. Does that mean the "caught the rich Yankee tourista with drugs" scam will now require the fuss of repacking/weighing the drop-in bags?

Does new law come with larger penalties for holding a quantity above the allowed amounts?

Which would mean the Federali scammers can up bribe $$$$ to forget about it.

Drugged up touristas are also easier to kidnap. So those given the "date rape" drug will be just part of the "new normal" scene.

Looks as if the drug lords wrote this law, lots of benefits for the criminal gangs/corrupt pols all around.

This is definitely a cloud with a silver lining. WHEN the Feds decide to grow back some cojones*, this situation comes very close to providing justification for introducing EVERYONE crossing north to Buddy, the Dope-Sniffing Dog. We don't even need to arrest them, just DON'T LET THEM CROSS. Not only would that keep many undesirable Mexicans out, but it would let us dispose of a lot of our own doper trash.

*Hey, first we steal their land, then we steal their lingo. Today, while they're boycotting, try to steal their chrome rims.

A few notes:

Drug laws in Mexico are virtual seatbelt laws here. Yeah sure they're taken seriously sometimes, but even when it comes to tourism it's pretty hard to get caught if you're in an area that's got some 'connections' to begin with. Conversely, I would hate to be caught in one of those non-connected areas with a stash. Not that I'm all junky or anything, just saying.

Mexico relaxing drug laws is going to get billed by the lefties as part of a Rove Conspiracy (TM) to allow the boarders to be locked down in a nastier way. Sadly, I'd suspect that there might be some truth to that.
