Had the McCain camp been able to count on the conservatives being "in the bag," we'd be looking at a McCain/Lieberman ticket. Fer sure.

Let's face it: Obama is only half black, but Palin is definitely all woman.

As a Dodger fan, for obvious reasons, I prefer these two from '88:

Thanks for the shout out today. Funny thing about the state servers..... I know I got a shiite-load of hits over that photoshopped Vogue cover. Over 600,000 as of 8:30 Alaska time.

I'm not sure how I feel about Palin being selected. I grew up with her husband and his siblings and know them to be extremely fine people. When I met Sarah, she was so different than the image I had of her as a ball-buster. She was very genuine and down-to-earth; and honestly, that may be the finest compliment I can give anyone.

Here's the thing the National Press didn't get: Sarah has an 85% (or so) approval rating doesn't mean 85% of Alaskans are conservatives. She's actually more popular with progressives in Alaska (yes, there are a few) than she is with the staunchest conservatives. Seriously. She just forced the legislature to give us $1,200 as a rebate for the huge windfall profits the state has reaped not only from the spike in crude oil prices, but also in the hike in taxes on Big Oil she pushed through last year.

Sticking it to the oil companies is not what you'd call a conservative value. Neither is handing out 12-hundred dollar checks to every man, woman and child (we expect them in about two weeks).

I will admit to being an Obama fan, and the real Veep I wasn't happy about is Biden. As much as I admire Palin, it won't get me to vote for her and McCain in November.

I honestly think that most Alaskans (that aforementioned 85%) would rather she stay here in Alaska and continue the job she's been doing. Even an Obama fan like me wants her to remain our governor. Seriously, if she had to run for re-election again, she'd win with a massive percentage of the vote (might not be 85%, but you know how that goes).
