The audacity of victory. You have to want it.

Every time I hear someone on the left say "End this war!" when they really mean "Let's pull out!" I want to puke. What a mutiliation of the English language. You can't unilaterally end a war except by winning it. Claiming to have ended a war by simply turning our backs on it is like when a baby thinks you can't see him if he covers his own eyes.

"The quickest way of ending a war is to lose it."

The Exalted One will end this war the same way Tom Hayden ended the one in Vietnam: by scorning the work and sacrifice of an entire generation for his own selfish satisfaction.

That time it cost the lives of over 2 million Cambodians. What will it cost this time?

"And then the war came to an end, and my doubts could no longer be deferred. The revolutionaries we had supported in Indochina were revealed in victory as conquerors and oppressors: millions were summarily slaughtered; new wars of agression were launched; the small freedoms that had existed before were quickly extinguished; the poverty of the peoples increased. In Asia, a new empire expanded as a result of our efforts and over the peoples of Laos and Cambodia and South Vietnam fell the darkness of a totalitarian night.

"The result of our deeds was devastating to all that we on the Left had said and believed. For some of us, this revelation was the beginning of a painful reassessment. But for others, there were no second thoughts....The next generation of the Left had begun. The only condition of its birth was forgetfulness, forgetting what really had happened in Vietnam, erasing the memory of its own past"
-- David Horowitz, "Destructive Generation"
