President Obama Signs Executive Order Extending Black History Month by a Fortnight

I took my Ambien and am hitting all my toolbar favorites and catch your headline.

Geeze. You had me going.

I'm tryn' to get to sleep here, Gerard.

How about a nice poem - something with sea breeze, gulls crying out over the ocean. Pelicans diving, diving - drawing me headlong under the water, astonished to be on the wing again -

Oh, forget it. That made me think of water-boarding.

Nitey nite.

Jesus, that's gonna bump my birthday back a bit this year. And I already had my room booked for vacation in Tehran. What to do, what to do?

"I won" will become a pop culture standard right up there with "I am not a crook".

Communists are bad. Petulant grade B campus commies are bad and annoying.

The One that won the Oval Office Lottery though... he's terrifying.

I take small comfort in noting that the number of O! stickers on Subaru, Volvo, and Prius bumpers has drastically declined this last week, at least around the hole in the heart of Salt Lake where I spend my life.

We sell what's left of our stock portfolio tomorrow. The remaining cash goes to five different institutions, three of which are so far totally divorced from any porkulus entanglements.
The electricians will be at the house a day or three. New panels for house and garage, as well as figure out what's up with the garage wiring. I'll buy another case of... beans. Or bullets. Doesn't much matter from where I stand.

Last spring we wouldn't even have considered this move but now that we find our assets reduced safely below the FDIC maximum insurable limit, well... WTF, why not get the garage rewired and buy some more food? Or bullets? Shit, maybe tools. Happiness is a contractor grade table saw...

Cash that's not worth the paper that it's printed on. Coming to a wallet near you. Real soon now.

TmjUtah:
Yep. I've been buying guns and ammo since November. I didn't do it earlier because I honestly didn't believe that Obama would win.

Next on my list is a gun safe. And after that is replacing my living room picture window with something that is hopefully more burglar-resistant. I may need to replace at least one door as well. I can't turn my average suburban house into a fortress, but I can at least make it more difficult for burglars.

Spend your money now, on important things, while it still has some value. I heard Glenn Beck talking about this months ago. He said to take care of any repairs or renovations you've been putting off, and buy extra pairs of shoes for your children.

Ironically, it is precisely this kind of spending that can stimulate the economy, not anything that the government does.

Dear White House,
Quit while you're ahead, boogie.

TimjUtah,
Me too. Just got my new multistage reloading press going. It will handle hundreds of calibers and supposedly can do up to several hundred rounds per hour. Got plenty of powder, primers, cases. I figure to trade lead for gold sometime soon. Ha! One way or another. Neighbor never owned firearm till last November, geeky programmer type, now has a budding collection of "assault" rifles and shoots every week. Interesting times.

The people acknowledged by this 'holiday' should be remembered for their achievements, not for their skin color. Accordingly, I call this 'holiday', "Skin Color History Month".

Your kidding, I hope.

No more Bushes, no more Clintons, and no more left-handers--what are the odds, three of the last four? This must be how Rome fell.

Headline in the Washington Post a few days ago said something to the effect that now that we have a black AG (Eric Holder) he is expected to "right long-standing racial injustices."

Let me see: there is now a black President, a black AG, and we've had two successive black Secretaries of State. There are a multitude of balck centimillionaires, and a whole host of just plain millionaires, a disproportionately high number of succesful entertainers and athletes are black, popular culture is weighted heavily towards black idioms, a plurality of big city mayors are black, blacks, whites and hispanics enjoy a degree of social ease unparalleled in our history . . . .

. . . . and STILL with the "racial injustice?"

It's over for America!! This moron will destroy this land & it won't take 4 years to do it. I never ever thought I would say we have a worse president then Carter, but I must admit his ideas were peanuts, compared to Hussein's! I'm not against black history month, but this idiot is way over the top!!
