Case in point is the news that a teleprompter may be built into the presidential podium. That any president would be acknowledged to be basically on a script during a presser is laughable by itself.

Bush, in the same situation, would have been viciously editorialized in columns and cartoons as a marionette, probably hanging from Dick Cheney's claw - like hands.

Interesting that the NYT announced today that it's suspending quarterly dividend payments to stockholders. As Thomas Lifson remarks, "Barack Obama is talking down the economy, and advertisers, especially purveyors of luxury goods who have used the Times as a showcase, are pulling back sharply. I wonder if anyone at the Times appreciates the irony that the man they supported is undermining the capitalism which created so much wealth on which the Times relies."

Bummer? I'd say the Crapehanger-in-Chief is just a bum.

It would be amusing if our stock markets. our strategic position in the Middle East and Central Asia, our potential to develop energy resourceswere not in jeapardy, and there's no relief in sight; so schaudenfreude only goes so far.

I'm with Fat Man. Not only is it more fun to watch Bambi flail and deliver gloomy harangues, but there is a sound reason to hope he keeps pushing fast and hard. Isn't it better to have him going full out now, while the public is focused on him? Because one scary alternative is for Bambi to develop sneaky efficieny and ease us into a worker's paradise while we are distracted by his wife's wardrobe.

No, far better to do it the way we are now. We have entertainment value AND Bambi is alienating the people who were his best Kool-Aid drinkers.

Yeah, it does, but I'm willing to see how far that "far" is. I will smile every time he steps on his crank (again) as my liberal friends wince and I say "told ya so". These friends (a couple in their mid-50s, slightly older than I) are nice, well-meaning folks who really, really fell hard for the hopey-changey thing, and now they already have serious buyer's remorse. I think this mostly has to do with the ever-shrinking value of their retirement fund. They're not having much fun right now. But I am.

Cathy, that broadcast should have been rated NC-17,and someone should have the good sense to edit it out. Walt you're right but it pains me to think we have at least another two years, before any relief is remotely in sight. I try not to look into some of the other links on this site, Scipio and V-man, because they are too distressing to think about.

Scary part of this is that Barry and the Dems may be doing exactly what they planned. They may actually believe that tanking the economy, screwing up international trade (with our friends) and letting the situation in the ME degenerate into a regional nucular (Brings back pleasant memories doesn't it?) holocaust is the right thing to do. That's what happens when the media goes in the tank for a bunch of corrupt and incompetent hacks.

One of 0bama's problems is that he had no idea - and I do mean _no idea...no clue_ how many of the people who voted for him are stockholders if only by way of their retirement accounts. Aside, of course, of the fact that he has no knowledge of economics and doesn't seem to have any advisors who do.

Did remember him talking up the "record profit" that one of the oil companies made and how that should be put towards alternative energy research. My left-leaning acquaintances were so taken with that, they were positively beaming. I did point out to them that the record profit was because of the high price of oil, I think it was in the hundred-something dollar range. I told them that the profit margin was the same. That was dismissed as pure drivel coming from me, because I was a janitor (still am), and Mr. Obama is a Harvard grad.

Well, they seem to not want to talk about that now.

What is this place? What misfits do we have here? This is the United States president we elected! Respect for him and for all of us who support him.
He can not make miracles - but he will- but the support of all of us transition us into a better country. The real problem is those people who are always there trying to put others down -find the wrong doing - underestimate the effort - mine the good path with evil sick comments. Thais not constructive. Find something better to do.
