"Dirty Jobs" Mike Rowe Talks About the War on Hard Work

Funny this should be circulating right now. I recently -- within the last year or so -- have had the epiphany that I'm far happier making things than I am selling them.

This after having sepnt my whole life trying to live behind the notion that physical labor doesn't pay well enough, that salesmen make the most money in any organization, that all I could really do was sell... and so-forth.

And I'm really very pissed. Why did I have to chose between college prep and vocational schooling? Why couldn't my prep school have taught more in wood shop or metal shop? Why can't a voc-ed school teach classics? I feel as though I've been cheated.

Then again, after forty years in one business, I now have the opportunity to garner a new skill set and set off on a new tack, and can take considerable pride in the accomplishments represented.
