Obama's Submarine

It is within Barack Obama's power to make us all poor, and he is trying mightily to do just that. It is not, however, within his power to make everybody rich. (Only himself and his friends) At the point when that finally dawns on people like this repo-lady, well, what happens then? Riots in the streets to claim all the stuff they were promised?

thanks for the post, but you are really comfortable with the idea that obama is going to make us poor? from my watch my company has been suffering long before O got in the door. its hardly fair to endure 8 years of incompetence to lambaste the new guy only in office for about 2 months. be critical, sure… but the above is a diatribe.

You're welcome, and I take your point. But it's not really a diatribe. It's just a send-up using a Beatles song for a mild satire.

I would say that it it wasn't 8 years of economic incompetence. It was, for most of it, 8 really good years at the end of a long boom and the seeds of the meltdown were planted long before 2000. What counts are the policies not from the past but in the present and the future. On that we shall see, but there is a consensus that similar things tried by FDR in the Depression (See "The Forgotten Man") deepened and prolonged the Crash of 29 and what came later.

BTW, get ready to hear from Apple and Yoko. They're always on top of this sort of thing. I know.
