Doing some research on the disease it seemed that in the US about a half million people were reported to have gotten HK flu, of which 33,000 or more died. What I remember about having it was the suddenness. We were up and playing one moment, and then we fell asleep...and didn't wake up when called. The doctor came to our house and quarantined the house. I wonder if they do that any more. When my kids got a severe form of strep throat, I quarantined the house with a sign to keep the kids away.
For us, HK lasted a long time, and I was out of school for 2 months, battling the aftermath of the illness....jaundice. I hope this is nothing like HK flu.
