Marijuana Country

I thought the best dope came from Humboldt County.

I'm so out of the small bowl loop.

Marijuana prohibition has been a total failure and is perhaps this country's greatest mistake. Not only has it created criminals out of nearly a third of the country's populace, it costs our society billions of dollars every year, creates a strain on our prison system, and has little or no effect on marijuana use in the US. In some cases, prosecuting marijuana use has turned non-violent, middle class kids into violent and unpredictable, career criminals. Once a person has a criminal conviction on their record, they are far less likely to find a good job and become a useful member of society. Other countries with more liberal drug laws have much lower rates of drug addiction among their people. Ahem, Daphne.... Arcata and Ferndale are in Humboldt County. Put that bong down and take a coffee.

David Scott - HEAR HEAR! I would extend those comments to use of other recreational drugs too. Most of them are dangerous because illegal - and therefore impure, administered with unsterile implements, etc. Also, the illegality of such drugs makes a huge amount of money for a few people, who are perfectly willing to protect that income with extreme violence.

Of course, since the War on Some Drugs gives employment to millions of people in the enforcement and penal confinement industries, and gives the State an excuse to snoop, the war will never stop.

Incidentally, the chicken looks like quite an interesting piece of sculpture. Riding a chicken down the beach is no worse than, for example, running a marathon in a diving suit.

Well-
Would you rather get stoned and ride a giant three wheeled chicken bike on the beach in Arcata, or be doing what you're doing right now?

Is that a trick question?

Like I'm supposed to know the names of pot towns...

Yes, you are. Your failure to know has been noted in your permanent conduct record.
